>> ONLY FOR VIDEO SHORTER THAN 10 MINUTES
I was using this to capture the saved DVR episodes from my DTV DVR with the hopes of putting shows on DVDs
First the capture does NOT read the yellow analog input You must trick it into using the s video The s video ONLY works if you save in certain formats mpeg avi which are the larger formats The video quality is excellent if you are willing to have huge file sizes 10 minutes will be larger than 250 MB
THE SOUND An absolute joke Of course you must adjust the input level lower than MAX which is the default but ANY FILE LONGER THAN 8 10 MINUTES AND THE SOUND NO LONGER SYNCS WITH THE VIDEO I did a show that was 50 minutes long and by the end of it the sound was a full 4 5 seconds behind the video TERRIBLE I had to save it in sections of 10 Minutes at a time and then edit it together myself AND I DID NOT USE THEIR LACKING SOFTWARE Don t use it it is pathetic I had to use the windows installed Movie Maker which was great
Summation If you want cheap cost and you only have short videos buy this product If you want longer videos and possibly burn them onto DVDs DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT
>> Doubly unusable
I received the product today and immediately tried to install it The device couldn t find the driver which led me to realize that the software disc was totally blank So I tried to find a download for the software online Through this search I discovered that the product also doesn t work on Vista 64 bit which I have
I am very dissatisfied
>> Works if you are patient enough to fix it
First I give this product 4 stars mainly because of the price Not to mention the FAST shipping So for those two experiences I give it four stars here at Amazon
Now the faint hearted computer operators might want to pass on this one For my W7 64 installation it was an evenings worth of work While the company may claim it works with W7 it does not right out of the package
You will need to Google Easycap video adapter driver and read the threads You will find one posted by Jeremy that tells you how to find and install another manufacturers driver in order to get this product to work with the Easycap That is what I had to do
There are also other solutions for other operating systems on a search For audio issues keep searching and the forums will tell you how to set the correct settings
This is NOT a product that you just set and go You should know some concept of capturing video and audio and what settings to use Its not a plug and play with device Forget technical support You want all that Go spend 100 on Pinnacle
Should you have to go through all this Yes for less than 15 00 What do you expect You don t want to go through it Then good luck finding ANY USB capture device that works with W7 64bit OS This is the only one I could find
There is more info at rwandrew077dotcom He has info on other operating systems and an entire blog devoted to the easycap
Oh you should also know that there are massive clones of this product on the market So many that the original company has to change its name to separate itself from the fakes
Final verdict Skip it if you want plug and play But it for less than 15 00 come on if you don t mind looking for the right drivers and then learning how to set the settings for capture
Good luck
