I on the other hand am not pleased at all After I installed the card I tested it with Left 4 Dead and it worked pretty well just a few stutters here and there but no big deal I noticed too that those stutters would happen with Peggle too so I though that had to be a bug in the drivers I searched for the latest drivers and installed the 196 75 version from the nvidia website During the installation my screen went black with a tiny green square in the middle and I had to turn off my PC Turns out that nvidia released faulty drivers as the newest official release
Nvidia posted a warning a few days later telling people about the faulty drivers and that they should install the previous version 196 21 I installed that version and problem solved or so I thought even the small stutters I had noticed were gone
The card worked nicely for a couple of weeks after that but all of a sudden I started getting some very serious errors At first the screen would lose video signal forcing me to turn it off manually Then I started getting freezes and blue screens I couldn t even start windows vista 32 bit I decided to install the oldest drivers I could find and that seemed to work at least it let me start windows After that I started getting nvdllmkm errors which after some research turns out are common but no one knows exactly how to fix them After some more freezes lost video signal blue screens and having to reset my PC several times just to start windows I decided it was not worth it and installed my old graphics card back I haven t had any trouble since then
After several lost afternoons I wouldn t recommend this card at all Maybe they ll get it together and release better drivers but at the moment even windows update takes the faulty drivers as a default >> cheap way to gain performance windows 7 ultimate x64 4gb ddr2 800mhz msi mobo/ amd x2 athlon 3ghz windows experience before 2 1 now 5 1 Installing is very simple just drop it in and tighten the screw On windows 7 it automatically downloaded the driver from windows update and didn t use the cd at all

So three stars I m happy with the board now but it took 3 boards to get one that actually worked >> Extreme is an Understatement Wow is more like it I recently purchased the Intel R DX58SO board to replace an older desktop PC First I removed the old PC parts from an Antec SOHO chassis and replaced the power supply with a new 600 watt supply ATX12 v2 2 spec or greater
Then I carefully installed with an ESD protection strap the big ATX sized DX58SO into the chassis I found it easier to work with it when the box and board are horizontal on a sturdy table Careful attention to power supply cable connections and processor installation is a combination of following detailed paper and online instructions
The Intel R Core TM i7 940 boxed processor came with a nice big fan with heat sink and since I planned to leave settings more or less stock I installed this fan
For RAM memory I installed Corsair TR3X6G1600C9XMS3 6GB 3 X 2 because it was low cost and quality tested
I used a XFX HD4850 1GB DDR3 RAM video card because it had lower power low fan noise low cost and respectable performance for most applications and games I really wanted the new HD5850 but thought it would push the power supply too far and require a higher cost
I used a low cost DVD W SATA3 interface drive to boot and load software Samsung SH S223L and a SATA cable from spare parts
Also I used the Seagate Barracuda 1 5TB 32MB cache SATA3 drive for main system storage
Everything else plugged in easily LCD monitor into HD4850 port 0 and powered up well As a first power up check I set the DX58SO jumper to boot to bios selection then went to the bios monitor and verified the chassis fans CPU fan supply voltages and temperatures were correct and everything is recognized and running stable
I tried an older Microsoft R XP Pro 32 bit operating system install and found it hung up and realized the needed drivers 64 bit were not supporting critical hardware
After some thought and online review I decided it was much easier to just get an upgrade version of Microsoft Ultimate Vista SP1 since it has 32 and 64 bit operating system disks I changed the boot jumper and booted the 64 bit Vista Ultimate This worked great using the clean install with no downloads or patches procedure
After getting through the Vista install I connected to the broadband network and used Microsoft update After many Vista updates I then installed the DX58SO disk to upgrade Intel drivers and bios then Intel Desktop Control Center and applications that came with the DX58SO board especially a virus scanner I used Norton 360 because it has worked well in other systems
I double checked using the Intel Desktop Control Center app all of the memory settings power supply voltages temperatures CPU and memory performance No settings were altered since everything was running without any problem
After all the work to get this system running smoothly and optimizations I am very pleased with the results Browsing to sites on the internet and most everything else is much faster large sites just pop on the screen The Microsoft ratings for system performance in all categories pegged at 5 9 after optimizations and updates
For a reasonable cost I found the performance boost will easily pay for itself with the time saved in getting more done It s nice to not be limited by the speed of your computer applications when you are trying to get work done as fast as possible Thanks to all for producing components that make this an excellent new computing platform

The company doesn tcare about customer service just your money This thing was giving my computer system a hard time anyway Windows 7 64 and I m kind of glad it died still a replacement would have been good so I could sell it and recoup as much as possible so what happened with the 1 year warranty that is normal for most expensive products When a warranty is only 90 days it means don t buy it That s why they don t advertise this in the manual that comes with the soundcard
I had no choice but to submit a form on their website butI never received a work order number or RMA number or any tracking information letting me know they were working on my situation Nothing nada zilch To find a phone number I had to do a search on the web and when I dialed it it referred me back to their unfriendly website Hence I could not get an update on whether or not they received my email request They basically don t want to have anything to do with the customer after the sale

Thank goodness for Amazon s free returns Now I can get a card that actually serves it s purpose >> The extra front port can cause problems on certain cases Step 1 Make sure you have a PCI E port This is what I was most worried about but I ll try an answer the question I ve plugged this into a PCI E 1x and a 16x which it currently resides and they both worked fine I m not sure if there is any latency issues by plugging a 1x card into a 16x slot but I have not seen any problems what so ever
Step 2 Make sure if you get the card with the expansion port that your case can support it My Gateway FX6800 infact cannot support the front panel The case only has two spots for CD ROM type drives with the plastic lid that covers the drive So be aware of that
Step 3 Make sure you have everything where you want it before you connect the card with the front port The cables are really hard to take off and doing so will more than likely break the plastic around the connectors
I did notice a difference in sound quality going from on board to the card It just seems like it is louder has more mid range and bass even on these small creative speakers that I ve had for a long time
Is it worth it I don t think so I d rather have just stuck with the on board sound Oh well

And that s the rub Users who aren t hard core gamers into heavy photo editing or doing lots of media transcoding and that s most of us folks are actually better served with a less expensive 64 bit CPU such as the Pentium E6500 which is less than half the price consumes less energy runs at a very respectable 2 93Ghz and still scores a very repectable 6 4 on the Windows 7 processor test I use an E6500 with a Raedon HD 5570 in a home theatre PC and the results are fantastic
My final advice to anyone considering this processor or the newer Core i5 or Core i7 is this make sure your application can take advantage of all the features the processor has or you re just wasting your money To take full advantage of this class of processor your application should be multi threaded ideally supporting hyper threading technology if you re doing media transcoding your application should ideally include support the SSE4 instruction set Finally if you re on Windows 7 you will see a solid benefit from running the 64 bit version

Sapphire Radeon HD 5570 1 GB DDR3 HDMI/DVI I/VGA PCI Express Graphics Card 100293L >> Great Card for Low Profile Systems I actually bought this card to downgrade from an Nvidia 9600 GT Low Profile Low Power card I run a low profile Core i7 system yes I m crazy mainly for doing video encoding and I wanted a decent low profile graphics card in order to do some light gaming However my 9600 recently started getting unstable on me so I needed to get a replacement My older card used a DVI to VGA converter yes I have a VGA only monitor but it has component ports in the back as well for my Wii and PS3 which is why I bought that monitor in the first place and for some reason after it got unstable the native resolution of my monitor was unable to be detected and when I forced it to the native resolution it resulted in blurry areas in the middle left and middle right section of my monitor Now that I m going through a native VGA port on the Radeon 5570 the sharpness came back and the native resolution of my monitor is detected
One other thing is that this card is a standard size for a low profile card My older 9600 GT was uncomfortably within a centimeter of touching my Blu Ray drive in my case whereas this card fits with enough room to spare
Even with the downgrade in specs and the shrink in size the card performs wonderfully The Windows 7 Windows Experience Score for graphics stayed at the same place 6 8 and I m still able to play the games I played while I had my 9600 GT Assassin s Creed II runs fine at full settings Dragon s Age runs fine at full settings and I can continue doing my video work without worrying about my GPU failing out of nowhere
One thing though that I should warn anyone installing this card into a low profile system is that you are going to need a small nutsetter as well as your run of the mill Philips screwdriver in order to replace the full height bracket with the low profile one I was missing the nutsetter when I received my card and I had to continue using my old card for an extra day since I needed to get my nutsetter the next day I have never switched brackets on a GPU before so this was new to me Hopefully more people are prepared when they do what I did >> Good card with one small flaw Just got this card to replace an ati 4550 in a windows 7 64 bit system my Windows Experience Aero graphics score jumped from 5 3 to 6 8 Two things I like about this card are the very low power consumption and the low noise level If you have a small power supply and/or a low profile case this is in my opinion one of the best card choices If you don t need a low profile card the ati 5670 and the nvidia GT 240 will play demanding games at higher resolutions albeit with higher power consumption
The one flaw is the metal cover plate on top of the cooling fins is loose and rattles The plate simply clips onto the top of the cooling fins a simple fix is a few drops of any adhesive that will bond to metal and withstand heat I simply popped the plate off which probably does reduce cooling under maximum load so if you do this you ll want to watch your temps in the Catalyst control panel if you re pushing the card for a period of time Since I ve seen cards with almost identical heat dissipation use this same fan/fins assembly without a metal cover with no problem I m not too worried about it but minus one star

So far it appears Corsair wants you to have a good feel on this product It comes wrapped in a velvet bag Practical features are definitely there fan speed monitoring pinouts are provided for the MB Cable length is ample and each cable is wrapped with normal standards Each of the 4xSLIs has the 2nd aux optional connector for future use tied to the SLI cord Once again the cordlength is ample to make a 4xSLI system however power output is questionable for that configuration Many SLI cards are rated for 40A each which would be 160A 12V that s more than the power cord rating going in from the AC mains can handle
A dual SLI system is more likely some of those need 2x SLI connectors on each card so the 4x cordset will not be wasted In fact the 850 watt rating is ideal for a dual SLI system
There are multiple strings of connectors both 4 pin and L shaped SATA power connectors This is definitely ideal for disk arrays One favorable feature is that they put a healthy 6 inches between connectors rather than the <2 spacing used by OEMs when the drives are meant to be stacked The tradeoff of neatness versus flexibility is cleaned up by housing the wires inside a plastic wire loom
If our final test shows that this supply gives 850 watts at this price then its definitely a great bargain Watch for updates since 850 watts is alot of power in such a small case
The only potential negative is that cables are not the new male female design with jacks on the power supply instead of attached cordsets This turns into an electrical advantage since the attached cordsets have a lower voltage drop by a small amount while the neatness goes to the connectorized power supply The issue is that running 40A to an SLI card through not one but two connectors is going to double the connector drop on the 12V line I prefer function over neatness so to me this is the right way

>> Very nice card glad I got it The GTS250 1GB card isn t the latest and greatest that Nvidia has on the market these days but for the price it was a great upgrade choice from my 512MB EVGA Nvidia 8600gts card The card is very big and requires at LEAST a 450W power supply so be aware that if you get this card you may have to upgrade your PS as well I went with a 550W power supply and it is working well You should also know that it is a double wide card so if you have other add on cards in your PC you may need to do some additional card moves to make this fit in your case
As for the performance honestly I am very happy with the card I do some gaming every now and then and things like Left4Dead2 Modern Warfare 2 and recently even DragonAge Origins run very well on my machine thanks to this card The processor is a AMD x2 5600 with 3GB of Ram and this card is a great addition to make these games run well on my machine I have been able to max out the settings on L4D2 and MW2 and almost max out Dragonage Origins When I try to do highest settings in DA O I get some choppy frame rates but at high it runs just fine I think that if I was to upgrade my CPU and Memory this would fix those issues
One other thing that I noticed about this card after first installing it was that it ran not hot but very warm This could have been due to the mid sized case I have but I also needed to add another fan to the case in order to draw more cool air through after installing this card I think this is normal for any modern card these days though more cooling is always better
All in all I think that this is a very good card and I would recommend it to others looking for an easy way to achieve better graphics for not a lot of money

A quick search on Google will confirm that many people are having problems I called ATI/AMD and the tech support person told me they re aware that the card has problems fast lines over the screen system freezes and Windows 7 restarts the driver and in 3 D games spontaneous reboots and that they re trying to fix the issues with a new driver The tech support person recommended not using this card unless I needed multiple displays which I don t and instead recommended going to a Radeon 4850 which I am doing
As for the other reviews I can only think they have a different platform than mine One person online did state he had the same problems under Linux >> very satisfied I promised i would write a review whether I had a positive or negative experience Thankfully my experience was positive I bought this to replace an aging ATI x1900 512Mb video card In the new battlefield Bad Company I was getting no more than 25 35 fps on low res during game play I was just food for the predators moving very slowly around With the 5770 i am running 50 60 fps on med res almost doubling the performance Of course this is still a bit low but it is likely due to my aging dual core 6400 processor not the video card I would recommend it to anyone that is looking for a midrange card installed nicely no difficulties Used the new catalyst drivers 10 3 from the amd website Worked flawlessly

Making the LED on/off switch on the HAF 922 is EXTREMELY easy to do and anyone with the most absolute basic level of experience using an exatco knife or scissors a pair of wire strippers and wrapping electrical tape can do it For starters you have two ways of doing this with or without a bridge connector Almost any store carrying basic electronics connectors ie the male female connectors found on the fan s connector connected to the on/off LED switch such as Fry s Electronics Radio Shack Micro Center and any untold number of other stores should carry the same 2 pin male female connectors found on the Cooler Master 200mm fan Say you want to have three such fans in your system front top and side panel All you have to do is create a bridge with one connector matching up to the 2 pin connector on the on/off switch with the other end splitting into a 3 way connector with all the connectors at the other end matching up to the 2 pin connectors on the fans of course to make this work properly once the lead from the on/off switch connector end splits into their three respective connections they will need to be of different lengths so as to meet their respective fans Alternately you can create the same 1 into 3 configuration from on/off switch to fans without the bridge but the bridge is highly recommended as i am doing with my HAF 922 The reason for this is should any single fan fail replacing the fan is as simple as disconnecting the 2 pin LED connector as well as the molex power connector swapping fans and reconnecting the molex 2 pin connectors Now is that so difficult As I said all it takes is two simple tools and some electrical tape of course if you want it to look professional you can take the extra step as I m doing and instead of using electrical tape solder the wires followed by covering them with heatshrink tubing

No this is just a sleeve bearing fan Contact the manufacturer and ask them In fact it is printed right on the box SLEEVE BEARING The problem is that I purchased this fan specifically to be mounted in a horizontal position So what is the big deal you ask Sleeve bearing fans are not designed to be run horizontally They will quickly wear out and get noisy if mounted horizontally Use your favorite search engine to look up the details Basically ball bearing fans last longer and can be mounted horizontally without any problem
I learned this the hard way by mounting sleeve bearing fans horizontally They would become loud and die prematurely even though the same brand fan was mounted vertically in the same case and was still running just fine
However this is an excellent sleeve bearing fan and will work just fine in the vertical position which it was designed for >> Nice fan and quiet This 120mm fan is really nice It s pretty darn quiet and very powerful For a basic 1 speed fan you can t do much better

But getting back on track This fan is less expensive than the average 120 mm fan is quieter than average moves more air than average comes with more screws than you need allows for RPM monitoring though it s powered by molex and even comes with a better grille if you feel like cutting a hole in your case How could it not get five stars
Edit I ve since overclocked the 4850 from 625/1000 stock to 750/1200 max temps are now 78 degrees This should change go up as Summer approaches but either way it s a far cry from 105

I am delighted that my AMD Phenom II X4 955 only draws 55 Watts when the CPU is at 100 utilization doing heavy HD renders Supposedly it is a 125W part but I have never seen it draw even half that I do not over clock and that is probably why Even though my whole system is pretty fully loaded it only draws about 260 Watts with everything hooked to it according to the APC UPS it is connected to This does not jive with the reviewer who said you need at least a 400 W power supply I have to ask him What all do you have in you system He certainly didn t do his homework Everyone should realize that the video card manufacturer can t predict what all you are going to load in your system

Changed Windows score from 4 2 to 5 8 and really allows me to run most anything I ve selected at full or very close to full values AA not included of course
I do recommend this to anyone that would like a good focused upgrade for the money that has a bit of experience inside their puters guts Its NOT a hard upgrade to do but you should have a clue before you jump in
DO check your power supply however I put in a 650w to have plenty of head space on the DC rail for this and other devices but a 450w is the minimum so don t think your stock issue 325/350 will handle it cause it wont

Antec Cyclone Blower Case Fan for Any Expansion Slot >> Not for Dell Inspiron 531 Desktop Bought this for my 2007 Dell Inspiron 531 Desktop unfortunately it DOES NOT HAVE MOLEX CONNECTORS Not anywhere So basically a big waste of 10 >> Super quiet super easy install The price of this unit is amazing It is soo quite and is good to put right next to your video card for extra cooling >> Surprising little blower I purchased this fan to move warm air out of the computer case My experience with this product has been somewhat different than some of the other reviewers To be honest I m not a big fan of products made in China but it s getting increasingly harder to avoid them The fan I received was solidly built and did not appear shabby to me Installation was a snap I just removed the slot cover in the back of the computer case that was held in place with one bolt and installed the fan in it s place The fan is nestled in the open slot above the fire wire card I don t use the fire wire ports so I m toying with the idea of removing the fire wire card to increase air circulation in the case The power connector for the fan is the 4 pin Molex type and has both a male and female connector for added flexibility This worked out great for me since my motherboard didn t have a provision to plug in another typical 3 pin connector I just used the Molex connector that was available If all your Molex connectors are being used there are splitters that are available The fan is very quiet and I can barely hear it if at all Maybe my hearing is starting to go in my old age I put my hand at the back of the vent to check the fan operation and was surprised at the amount of air it was moving out of the case It seemed like a lot compared to the size of the fan On a side note the fan I received didn t look exactly like the one in the picture but more importantly it does the job All in all I feel that this is a great product and well worth the price

Tripp Lite P952 003 eSATA to SATA Signal Cable 7P M/7P M 3ft >> Pretty good I guess You can t really complain about these cables They are very long and very easy to use The only thing I would like to have seen is greater flexibility All in all a good product But you do need to be careful that you don t break them as they tend to only be slightly flexible >> Fits like a glove The connectors fit snugly without too much force and not so loose that you might think they d fall out The molding of the connector housings look well and proper They don t look cheap in other words >> They work great These are wonderful FYI Some eSATA male connectors have almost a 2mm shorter snout and will NOT work in some female connectors on computers and cards These short ones just won t work The Trip Lite cable rated here DO WORK And they work very well in the shallow female connector I strongly recommend them

>> P6T This was my frist time not buying a brand new computer from someone like Dell I thought it would be fun to build my own I order these motherboard to go with my i7 3 0 the set up on the board its nice there is alot of room for iteams and the PCI E slots arent close like on a Dell system so it can hold the Gtx 285 with no issues It has a really great on board sound care and the 1G on board Lan its sweet for anyone who can use it I not had any issues out of it and Find Asus is a great buy when you look at other companys who want twice the price for the same hardware set up >> Works great no complaints I used this MoBo to rebuild an aging Alienware computer The main components are the P6T Intel i7 975 Extreme 6 gigs Corsair ram and 850 watt power supply ATI 8570 and CoolerMaster V8 CPU cooler Assembled everything booted it up and it s been running smoothly ever since I had a very minor issue in that I wanted to setup 2 WD Velociraptor Hard Drives in raid one and the raid setup screen went by so fast that I couldn t read it but a little research told me to hit i as soon as I saw it and after that setting up the raid array was easy I haven t tried overclocking as I haven t seen a need to I ve been playing Bioshock 2 with everything set at maximum with no problems
I may try another 8570 in crossfire if the need arises but so far there is no need No crashes Windows 7 Pro no heat issues and no complaints

Corsair CMPSU 450VX 450 Watt VX Series 80 Plus Certified Power Supply compatible with Core i7 and Core i5 >> Excellent Just beware if you plan to put it in an older or small case Overall I was very happy with this power supply It appears of good quality for the money and the mesh wrap around the wires made it easy to organize them within the case Corsair even included some tie wraps so you didn t have to go searching for a few if you like to keep your routing neat and tidy The standard drive connectors were aplenty and fit more snugly than most
Beyond all existing reviews I don t have too much more relevant to add other than a comment on the location of this power supply s fan which is a large fan located on the top While that is obvious from the photos it is not obvious that there is no exhaust via a traditional rear fan or to any other side so your case will require an opening or have significant space above the power supply for it to vent properly
Installing this into an older mid tower case where the power supply mounts against the top of the case meant that I was going to have to modify the case so that the fan exhausted properly This was no problem for me as I m adept with sheet metal fabrication and already own a 5 hole saw but I realize that is not something most people have laying around the house The top of my case also came off easily so I could make the modification off line without having to remove the case components or risk filling it with metal filings
So in conclusion if you plan to put this in a smaller or older case it either would be wise to check your case to see what is above your power supply and be prepared to modify your case or chose another power supply that vents in a more traditional location

thank you Chris >> Excellent replacement drive but difficult setup Now that I have gotten through the setup process the drive is excellent and somewhat faster than the previous boot drive and does not change system noise level The setup difficulties were because the usual standalone utilities would not recognize the drive Both WD utilities and Windows 98 boot disk to run FDisk failed until the drive was formatted under W2K I was then doing an image copy of the old C drive boot partition to the drive I learned the hard way that from W2K on Windows stores the drive letter of the page file in the registry and the drive letter in the MBR Master Boot Record of the disk The only way to make this the C drive to match the registry was to format the partition under W2K using next available letter then do the stand alone image copy from the old C drive then make the new drive the only hard drive in the machine and run standalone FDisk MBR to build a new MBR with the C drive letter If you are just adding a second drive you will not have these problems Just connect it as the slave and be sure the original drive is set as Master see jumpers on back of drive boot your operating system right click My Computer choose Manage go to Disk Management and partition and format the drive as you want
