Replaced an Intel D865GSA which had failed
Installed the board booted recognized everything on POST set the BIOS values for XP and was installing Ubuntu 8 04 LTS Server when video died and system became non responsive The large heat sink near the CPU was very hot Let it cool for a while and rebooted Retried Ubuntu in same thing happened this time a little sooner
Third time no POST
Returned to Amazon

I had a spare Pentium D dual core 945 3 4GhZ CPU and fan and chose this board because it handles a wide array of CPU s old and new just in case I want to do some testing or update to a newer E6300 etc
This board is nicely built and I had no problems putting together a system using it
It has lots of nice features and looks like there s plenty of tweaks in the BIOS although that s not my style I care more about stability longevity and efficiency Yeah I know the Pent D is not real efficient My other computers are Intel Atom boards D945GCLF2 40W also purchased from Amazon This board is using 110W with a WD 320 drive a PowerColor HD3650 PCIE video card and 2GB of DDR2 800 RAM The video card is not necessary The on board graphics seems okay if you are not into gaming
My only complaint was that the board was mailed from back East USPS and the tracking and time was somewhat longer than I had anticipated
The price is about as good as it gets for a new 3 year warranty board with shipping included

I bought this for my old man s new PC I usually get ASUS but I always wanted to try a gigabyte I really liked it more than the ASUS boards see the specs and if it is for you don t doubt getting it
