After matching the specs I bought this to upgrade my aging Dell computer I installed it and the next thing came this burning smell from inside my computer I immediately turned it off and removed the melting RAM but it was too late My old computer is no more I felt like a bit of a dufus thinking I must have made a monumental mistake somewhere along the line Although I was certain to match the specs and install it correctly snapping it in to place I called Kingston and they said they preferred another one of their more expensive memory sticks and as such this part is not guaranteed I said funny how there is no mention of that on Amazon or in retail stores or on the package for that matter But the Kingston rep finally admitted that what happened should not have happened But too bad for me Basically you re out of luck sucker Fortunately I had no problem returning the defective part to Amazon they even picked up the shipping So I got my thirty some odd dollars back and am only out the price of a new computer
