>> Understand what you are buying
You need to understand what you are buying
The short you can t fax documents from your computer directly like with HPs
The long
I bought this to replace an older HP AIO that was not scanning well
I was hoping to completely replace this this older unit and now have wireless too and possibly save in ink cost
As a printer and scanner seems to be fine Haven t had it long enough to really give an opinion on that Don t know about actual ink costs yet
AS A FAX understand what you are buying
This is a printer/scanner with a fax machine in the same case
This is no different than having a printer with a separate fax machine sitting on top except its all in one case
Here is the problem with the fax if you have a document on your computer and you want to fax it you need to print it out on paper and then take the paper and put in back into the feeder on top and then press the buttons for sending a fax
How stupid is that 99 of the time I fax documents from my computer I don t need or want a print out So that is a waste of paper and ink Not to mention that I also access the computer remotely and send the faxes from time to time This is not possible with the Kodak printers They don t have the software that will allow for this HP does With my HP I can fax directly from the computer and never print out the documents So guess what I now have two printers setting at my desk
I called and spoke to Kodak support at about this It took them the longest time to even understand what I was talking about All the rep said was but its wireless and you can print from an iphone Who cares That is not my issue I asked for a supervisor and they said there were none
I don t even understand how the engineers and the whole team involved in making this printer didn t think about this or just decide that it wasn t important enough to create the software for it
I am considering returning the Kodak but I haven t made up my mind yet
I did need the wireless but HP has that too on newer models
Nice try Kodak at making a small home office unit but you missed
