I powered off my daughters PC removed the problematic Trendnet PCI wireless adapter inserted the PCMCIA adapter card and booted the system Windows XP SP3 recognized the card and no other steps were needed I validated via Device Manager I then proceeded to use my old IBM 11a/b/g Wireless Cardbus Adapter PCMCIA adapter To use this PCMCIA wireless adapter I only inserted the CD ROM and let the drivers be read off The final step was to configure the wireless preshared key to join the home network
I have used used one other PCMCIA card which was for a memory adapter This was recognized without issue
